InHale is a series of furniture which transform marble into a light state of being. Bending the rules between forms, techniques and materials, the chunks of marble are lifted by an inflated metal cushion. Resulting in a light affect where a heavy rock is resting on a volume of air, enveloped in a soft like metal pillow. Ben cultivates and creates a rather surprising language of form. His admiration of raw materials and their imperfections is evident in his work. He allows the materials to react using techniques that can’t be fully controlled. The main stone that is used in this new series is the Grand Antique marble. The quarry that has supplied it has been closed for over a century and has only recently reopened.
